What is NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) began in July 2013 and is supervised by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
Understanding the NDIS
The NDIS offers all Australians under 65 that have a permanent and significant disability with the essential supports neededs enjoy a normal life. The NDIS started with a small number of trial sites throughout Australia from July 2013 and is being launched in phases around Australia to guarantee it’s successful and sustainable outcome.
Those who are qualified to receive NDIS assistance are known as participants. Each participant has their individual NDIS plan that will identify the outcome they would like to achieve, the supports that is to be funded by the NDIS along with supports the individual requires. This scheme has provided individuals with disability the ability to decide where and how they can access their supports.
Funding is allocated directly to the individual to acquire the support they need, instead of funding being directly given to the service providers.
People who have disabilities are now able to select their providers and can change them at any time. Do you want to know more? then visit: https://www.ndis.gov.au/understanding
